Taking care of your HVAC unit is important because regular maintenance will help it last longer.  Some tasks like replacing air filters and checking refrigerant leaks should be done several times a year, but certain tasks are on a seasonal timetable.  In the spring, you should start getting your air conditioning unit ready for warmer weather.  During the summer, make sure the area around the air conditioning unit is clear and turn off the water to the furnace humidifier.  In the fall, check your attic’s insulation and make sure your heating unit is ready for colder weather.  During the winter, check the carbon monoxide detector’s battery.
